Municipal Operations

Stormwater runoff from municipal operations can affect water quality and quantity. These activities range from the storage and handling of harmful chemicals to the maintenance of municipal properties, vehicles, roads, parks, and storm sewer systems. Activities such as integrated pest management, water conservation, recycling, erosion control, proper storage of materials, repair of equipment, spill clean up and education programs can prove to be very effective in addressing these pollutant sources.

The Keep it Clean Partnership (KICP) program contracts with the Partners for a Clean Environment (PACE) Program to implement a stormwater compliance assistance program for municipal operations within the Keep It Clean Partnership communities (Boulder, Boulder County, Erie, Longmont, Louisville, and Superior).

PACE has developed the following tools for the Municipal Stormwater Program:

 

Scoop the Poop! 

Pet waste can contain bacteria that are carried in rainwater and snowmelt – ending up untreated in Colorado’s lakes, rivers, streams, and wetlands.  Remember to always clean up after your pet!
