Performance Standard PACE staff will utilize The Brendle Group’s Water Conservation Assessment Toolkit to determine businesses’ current level of conservation. Water usage must be at least 10% less than the baseline determined for the facility. The baseline for the facility will be determined by running the Assessment Toolkit with the maximum flow rates for toilets, urinals, showerheads and faucets mandated by the Energy Policy Act of 1992.
Prescriptive Measures PACE will work with businesses to develop an implementation plan with prescriptive measures intended to move them significantly towards the performance standard. The implementation plan will be customized to address the needs and opportunities specific to the business. Businesses will be required to submit documentation to PACE that demonstrates completion of the implementation plan measures.
Potential measures to be included in the implementation plan include:
- Work with PACE to identify and implement the highest priority water conservation measures
- Work with PACE to develop an education plan for customers and employees to further promote water conservation
- Landscape
- Develop and implement a comprehensive landscape maintenance plan highlighting routine maintenance of the sprinklers
- Install a smart irrigation controller
- Install a drip irrigation
- Reduce turf areas with Xeriscaping
- Appliance and Fixtures
- Install high efficiency toilets
- Upgrade industrial laundry facilities
- Install 0.5 gpm or less sensor-controlled sinks in restrooms
- Install low-flow pre-rinse spray valves
- Install waterless/high efficiency urinals in men’s restrooms
- Upgrade water-cooled generators, air conditioners and ice-makers to air-cooled appliances
- Equipment Maintenance, Repair and Replacement
- Insulate hot water pipes, boilers, and water heaters
- Eliminate single pass cooling towers
