As part of the certification process, your business will need to either demonstrate that operations significantly outperform baseline standards for your industry or implement substantial and measurable improvements. Performance based criteria allow recognition of businesses that are already exceeding the standards.
If your business is not currently meeting the performance based criteria, or if you opt to forego demonstration of performance, PACE will work with you to develop an implementation plan with prescriptive measures intended to move you significantly towards the performance standard.

Your business will receive recognition in the AOE once you have completed the implementation plan – you will not be required to demonstrate that they have met the performance standard.

Note: While developing the AOE performance we aligned our requirements with the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. By meeting the AOE performance standards, businesses may be eligible for points towards the LEED Existing Building certification program.
